Dr. Mukkamala is a well- known radiologist and a great philanthropist. He is basically from a small village in India named Budhavaram. After completing his elementary education, he has joined medical school at the age of just sixteen. After earning MD degree he has immigrated to the United States to complete his radiology residency. Post this Dr. Mukkamala has been practicing radiology.

Dr. Apparao Mukkamala and his present career

At present, Dr. Mukkamala is based in Flint, Michigan and is working as a radiologist in Harbor Beach Community Hospital and Genesys Regional Medical Center. He is one of 10 at Harbor Beach Community Hospital and one of 59 specialists at Genesys Regional Medical Center who focus in Radiology. He has been associated with Hurley Medical Center in Flint for a long time and at present he has been serving as the Chairman of Radiology. In addition to this, he is also the Chairman of the Radiology Residency Program and has taught a number of radiologists.

Moreover, he uses the knowledge gained from his professional experience as a clinical professor of radiology at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Dr. Apparao Mukkamala maintains board certifications in pediatric radiology, radiology, and nuclear radiology from the American Board of Radiology.

Dr. Mukkamala has graduated from Guntur Medical College. He has also been an alumnus of Andhra Loyola College in Vijayawada. Personal Life

Dr. Apparao Mukkamala is married to Sumathi Mukkamala, a reputed pediatrician. Mr. and Mrs. Mukkamala are the parents to Srinivas Mukkamala, MD, an ENT surgeon and Aparna Mukkamala, MD, a physiatrist. They are further blessed with four grandchildren.

Dr. Mukkamala’s contribution towards society

He has founded Chinmaya Vijaya Orphanage, a children’s home that offers food, shelter, health care, and education for orphans. This orphanage teaches young girls traditional values and self-esteem to help them grow into socially responsible residents. Located on a five acre area land, the children’s home includes plush vegetation and scenic views of a theme park and local entertainment. Children start the day with meditation and yoga and attend school in the day. The children here also enjoy entertaining activities, such as playing in the outdoors and learning classical Indian dance. He is the treasurer of the Chinmaya Organization of Rural Development.

Besides this, Dr. Mukkamala is the founder of the NRI Academy of Sciences. Graduates of the NRI Academy of Sciences learn the essential skills to perform in their selected area of practice and have also been trained in their separate and joint social responsibility.
